No it wasnt.

had absolutely no national debt,

Thats a lie.

had the largest middle class in the world

Thats a lie.

and only one parent had to work to support the family."

Thats a lie with plenty of familys at that time.

It also had an infant mortality rate MUCH higher than it is today.

FAR more couldnt read or write,

Most had to accept that some of their kids would have died before reaching adulthood.

Hordes had to watch someone they know die of diabetes, heart attack, cancer etc etc etc.

The country was about to get involved in a world war, and
to see hordes of young people killed by the flu epidemic.

There as no welfare at all, if a depression showed up, you got to like that or lump it.

And there were lots of full depressions in the century before 1929.

What happened?

We decided that we wanted govt to do a lot more than it had
been doing and realised that that had to be paid for somehow.

Just another of your pathetic little pig ignorant drug crazed fantasys.

Its nothing even remotely resembling anything like what it was 100 years ago.

In spades with the risk of having one of your kids die before it becomes
an adult or the risk of you being left to die of a serious medical problem
like diabetes, heart attack, cancer, infectious disease, etc etc etc.

In spades with how we get around and the standards of housing most of us have.

In spades with how we communicate.

What do you mean what happened? The rich bought the government. It
used to be that most of the government revenue came from import taxes
and from taxes on the very wealthy. The average citizen paid little or
no taxes. But now it is the rich that pays little or no tax and import
taxes have been replaced by "fair" trade agreements. It is now up to
the workers to pay for everything.

Granted, Technology and medicine have improved. But the economy
sliding back.

My pessimistic opinion.
You are welcome to yours.

The bottom half of citizens pay no net federal taxes right now.

But now it is the rich that pays little or no tax

Another bare faced pig ignorant lie.

have to pay for them when they were slugged massive import dutys.
