I appealed my property taxes last year and just got the new bill.

 Last year it was ~$1,400.

This year, $33.43. Take that OhioGuy!

The house value fell by about 2/3 and it was enough for the
exemptions to cover most of the assessed.

The world is run by loons.

Well this is good news! Now there's no problem tracking all the
millions of illegal invaders! The GPS in every cell-phone can tell
the gummint exactly where they all are every minute...Assuming that
the gummint wanted to know for some reason, of course. They are
probably a lot more interested in where YOU are!
In what promises to be the match of the millennium, the Christians
score a goal in this exciting match between Good and Evil, where we
don't know who's playing who. In Argentina they would shout:
GOOOOOOOOLLLL!!!!!

Across Ground Zero From Mosque Site, Anti-Muslim Venom

The Internet evangelist Bill Keller moved toward the dais in tiny,
quick steps on Sunday, exhibiting the anticipation of a man ready to
address a crowd. Roughly 60 people stood before him in a hotel meeting
room in Lower Manhattan, temporary quarters of his Christian center,
his response to the mosque planned for an empty building nearby.

“If we’re going to do something in New York City, we’re going to do
something that’s not just bold and visible, but something that has a
lasting presence,” Mr. Keller said.

I don't know if they are taking bets, but my bet is on the Christians!

TM is a poor crazy ******* who just posts on his one favorite subject -
hatred of motor vehicles because they interfere with his use of the roads.
His other favorite subject is attacking Christianity. If you respond to this
poor crazy *******, then you are a poor crazy ******* too.

He likes to reference monkeys and other wild animals normally found only in
zoos because he is most likely a wild beast himself. I think he fornicates
with monkeys, but I can't prove it.

TM should confine himself to just one thread instead of proliferating them
like a poor crazy *******. He is insane of course. I liken him to the
village idiot of olden times. The difference these days is that no one any
longer recognizes the village idiot because idiocy has become so widespread.

But I will be here to remind one and all of what a poor crazy ******* TM is.
It is mark of My Greatness that I can still recognize the village idiot even
if the rest of you can't.
> I went to see this light yet deep comedy to make my girlfriend happy
> as well as to learn from such wisdom, and this what I wrote in the
> comments on the bulletin board: "You need a lot of concentration to
> escaping to these bulletin boards.
>
> To be honest, I saw life in Italy that made sense in their enjoyment
> of life, but the toothless guru in Bali was most disappointing. Of
> course, in true Hollywood style, she found happiness in Bali, in the
> form of a lion who roared his motorboat to escape to a deserted island
> with 500 parrots... I wonder what happened next. ;)
>
> Hey, c'mon guys, you don't need Bali, you don't need outboard
> motorboat, you don't need a credit card to travel in order to be
> happy. All you need is a bicycle, a smart girl and some simple yet
> wholesome food, like peanuts and banana.
>
> Very telling though: She's riding her bike in Paradise and this
> asshole comes in his stupid Totota 4WD (it had to be Toyota), bruising
> her, but also creating the occasion for the affair.
>
> Thanks to the Spirits of the Jungle we have a Wise Tibetan Monkey to
> tell it all like it is --without the praying:
>
> "EAT, PHUCK AND BE MERRY"
>
> We don't live in mental masturbation in the jungle.
>
> Heading down the mountain on my bicycle at high speed along curves my
> back brake cable snapped and then the front cable snapped, probably
> because I was carrying five containers of drinking water taken from a
> spring, each container 7 pounds. In a pack on my back, at night in
> the dark swerving around skunks and trying to avoid bears in the dark.
>
> My shoes hit the pavement and I could smell the rubber burning, then my
> filthy socks ripped away, then the calluses went until I got down to
> the meat until finally I got to the lip of the canyon and laid the
> bicycle down to let my jeans rip up some until I stopped.
>
> From there I walked on my bleeding and blistering feet for a couple of
>
> Question: Does human evolution favor people who do not drive cars? Some
> 50,000 car-related deaths in the United States every year. Does human
> evolution favor people who do not smoke? Some 50 people die from smoking
> or smoking-related illnesses in the US every hour. And yet statistically
> those numbers are insignificant since the majority of those deaths had
> already passed on their genetic codes to the next generation, right?
>
> If I had been required to run down my meals on foot, the broken bicycle
> brake cables would have meant my death by starvation simply because
> my feet were maladapted to serve as brakes, a failing I blame on all of
> my ancestors who came before whose feet were not weeded out of the genome.
Humans became bipedal for a reason...

To ride the two pedals.
Seriously, the bicycle is Intelligent Design, but Humans are Stupid
I posted a similar request a few years ago but still need relief.

I am soliciting recommendations and referrals to online or direct mail
sellers of used, out-of-print, hard-to-find, or rare ("classical") music CDs.
I am not a dealer or reseller. Quite a number of my music CDs ranging in
age from 20-25 years have become unplayable due to deterioration of the
reflective medium. All are major label; most are "first line". I'm having the
Devil's own time finding replacements. Help.

paying $4.95 a month for Internet, but may upgrade

I'm paying $4.95 a month for dialup Internet. This gives me about 6
hours of Internet access a day. I've been happy with it in the past,
but nobody can call in or out when I'm online, so I've been considering
alternatives.

We also pay about $28 a month for local telephone, and ~$6 a month
for long distance on calling cards. That's a grand total of $39 a month
for local and long distance, plus Internet.

I had been considering DSL, but that would be $25 a month, and
requires us to have the telephone. My long term goal is actually to
dump the landline telephone, if possible.

I've been looking at cable Internet - we have Timer Warner in this
area. I got a flier last week advertising $29.99 a month Internet, but
that was evidently a "bundle", where you pay them $90 total for
Internet, telephone and TV. We don't have a TV, and I'm not interested
in that.

I think I've also seen "specials" where they advertise just the cable
internet for $35 a month for the first year, then $45 a month after that.

What I'm looking for is some sort of special. I've never had cable,
and I'm hoping to get a really good deal for a long term - something
like 2 years for $30 a month, Internet only.

Anybody know of a website or anywhere that has specials like this
advertised regularly?
